About RMC Tackle
RMC Tackle, fishing lures Australia started in 2016 after Rod McMullan and his family visited Lake Eucumbene in the Snowy Mountains of NSW Australia. They fell in love with the Lake at Buckenderra Holiday Park managed by Yana And Josh, and purchased a cabin. Rod has been a estuarine fisherman most of his life but had to learn fast about catching freshwater Trout. It is from here he explored what sort of tackle was catching these fish, and so after some late nights reading and watching Youtube he saw that Sling Blades with Wiggle Hoochies, Cripplures and Humdingers running behind them were doing very well in Americas Great North West Lakes. After searching in Australia for these he discovered these lures were not available here.
So the story turns to America, Lake Shasta and finally Shasta Tackle the makers of the lures. He contacted Gary Miralis and developed a relationship with him and had some samples sent out.
Rod used these on Lake Eucumbene with great success and placed his first order in July 2016.
Now these great unique lures are available exclusively in Australia and New Zealand through this website and soon at selected Tackle Shops.

About Shasta Tackle
“Are you catching all the fish you should be catching?” That is a question that Gary Miralles, founder and owner of Shasta Tackle Company, often asks fishermen and guides. Proof as they say is “ in the pudding” or on the stringer as the case may be and Gary and his ever expanding lines of Trout, Kokanee, Salmon and now salt water tackle never fails to produce both fish in quantity and quality.
Gary’s lures have held or hold a line class world record and multiple lake records from many waters west of the Rockies. As a guide Gary would offer a guarantee of catching fish or the client would not pay and even with the toughest of fishing days Gary has yet to have to make good on the guarantee. Having personally used many of the lures made by Shasta Tackle I can speak well of their effectiveness.
The original Cripplure was designed and handmade by Gary thirty-nine years ago as a sixteen year old youth checking the prototypes’ action in the bathtub. Gary continued to hand-make the Cripplure for many years giving them to friends and selling them on the side. This lure was to provide the impetus of the Shasta Tackle Company after an injury forced Gary’s early retirement as a fireman with the CDF.
Armed with eight colour selections of Cripplures Gary started what was to become a leading force in the Northern California fishing market. A chance fishing trip on Whiskeytown Lake with Gary and Pete Ottesen, the Outdoor Writer for the Stockton Record was to provide the breakthrough that expanded the popularity of the Cripplure in the early 1990’s. Pete was attending a conference in Redding of the Northern California Outdoor Writers Association and was paired with Gary to go on a fishing excursion. With Gary guiding and using his Cripplures, Pete was so impressed with the resulting limit of Kokanee, he wrote an article titled the "19 year secret." Soon retailers and anglers were clamoring for these fish catching lures.
Prior to the Pete’s article Gary was selling the lure in few retail outlets, the first being The Fishing Hole tackle shop in Shasta Lake City. From selling 18,000 lures a year Gary was selling upwards of 64,000 the next year following the article.
Adding the Humdinger lure line, another excellent lure for trout, salmon and Kokanee, Gary continued to build on success after success.

21 Salmon and a Trout later
Gary Heffley had the pleasure to be a client of Gary a number of years ago on a springtime trip on Lake Shasta. Watching Gary work adjusting the down rigger depth while monitoring the electronics for depth, speed, temperature, bait and fish concentrations. was like going to class. I managed to land 21 salmon and 1 rainbow trout that day and have been hooked on Shasta Tackle products ever since. Being a great salesman and knowing that word of mouth is often one of the best sales tools, Gary made sure I left with a handful of his lures to use on my own.
Gary has become so proficient at down rigger trolling that he has produced a video that outlines techniques and teaches the angler the basics of down rigger fishing. This video shot on Lake Shasta is must view for anyone new to the use of down riggers or any anglers who wants to improve their catch rate. Besides the basics Gary discusses lure stacking, depth and lure colour selection and seasonal water changes among other valuable topics.

Market expansion
Gary has expanded his market share by taking the opportunity to participate in various outdoor and fishing shows and expos. He will often hold seminars at these shows detailing his techniques and products, while always being available to speak with and answer questions. This exposure has allowed Gary to establish many valuable relationships with businesses, media and organisations like Kokanee Power who are dedicated to the promotion, protection and expansion of the Kokanee fishery.
Gary can often be seen on Angler’s West television show segments fishing at the many lakes and waters of California and the Pacific Northwest. These relationships help provide Gary with a forum by which he can assist in promoting fishing as a sport and recreational activity, the expansion of the popularity of Kokanee fishing and the value of Kokanee to a fishery.
This exposure has also helped Shasta Tackle expand market share into the Pacific Northwest and many of the Rocky Mountain States. The Shasta Tackle products have proved especially effective in Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Utah where monster Kokanee are known to roam. In the past couple of years where the local and national economies have been hard hit Gary has shown a steady and impressive growth rate. The next target market is east of the Rockies where the Great Lake’s Trout and Salmon fishery would have great success using these products.
An interesting aspect of Shasta Tackle’s continued growth is with its involvement with the Shasta County Opportunity Center. The Opportunity Center offers developmentally challenged individuals the chance to learn work and social skills. For the past eight years the final assembly, detail work and packaging of the Shasta Tackle line of products have been contracted to this work force. This win-win relationship saw Gary move his office to the Opportunity Center five years ago, where inventory is processed for shipment.
Shasta Tackle’s successes have allowed the brand to expand into both hard and soft plastics, with the introduction of the Matrix line-up. Besides expanding the color selections and introducing UV and glow in the dark to many of the lures.
If you are a Trout, Salmon or Kokanee fisherman and have yet to use Shasta Tackle Products or have not taken the opportunity to listen or see a seminar put on by Gary I would highly recommend both. Then when asked if you 'Are you catching all fish you should'? 'You can say confidently, 'YES!' For more information go to www.mackslures.com

Shasta Tackle merge with Mack's Lures
Wednesday, June 15, 2016
MACK'S LURE, INC. ACQUIRES SHASTA TACKLE COMPANY
A strategic merger between two leaders in the kokanee market .
WENATCHEE, Wash. — Mack's Lure, Inc., manufacturer of the famous Wedding Ring® and Smile Blade®, today announced that it is acquiring Shasta Tackle Company, makers of custom trout, kokanee and salmon lures, including the popular Cripplure, Hum Dinger, Sling Blade and more.
The purchase of Shasta Tackle Company, based in Redding, California, further increases Mack's Lure, Inc.'s share in several fishing tackle markets and kokanee, in particular. "What an exciting time for both companies and their customer base," said Bob Schmidt, owner and president of Mack's Lure, Inc. "This is two leaders in the kokanee market combining their strengths and ideas to offer anglers even more exciting products, as well as allowing Mack's Lure to grow more rapidly and get in touch with an even larger base of anglers."
"For 28 years, we have built a strong, deep-rooted, fast-growing company, but as business evolves, it has become more and more apparent that we needed a strong, well established strategic partner to continue on our path," said Gary Miralles, founder of Shasta Tackle Co. "We found that partnership with Mack's Lure."
The acquisition with Shasta TackleCo. is monumental for Mack's Lure, Inc., in that it further enhances our niche in the trout and kokanee markets. There are many followers of both companies, many of whom use both company's products in their presentations, so combining them is a plus for everyone. Effective immediately, all Shasta Tackle Co.'s products, while still maintaining their established product names, will be operated, manufactured and distributed as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mack's Lure, Inc. Miralles is joining the Mack's Lure, Inc. staff in a product development and promotional capacity.
"This partnership will give me more time for product development and the freedom to focus more on the marketing and promotional side of the business," Miralles said. "This merger will help to launch Shasta into a new level of growth; giving it the foundation to expand and grow in its existing markets and enter into new markets, as well.
"I am truly excited about the future, so stand by everyone―this is just the beginning."
